Every Qalam begins as a du'a before it becomes a melody.
The Qaseem project was born from a simple intention: to create original Islamic poetry that brings hearts closer to Allah, deepens love for His Beloved ﷺ, and draws inspiration from the timeless teachings of the Awliyāʾ of Allah, whose path of love, sincerity, humility and remembrance continues to illuminate hearts across generations.
Rooted in the Qur'an, the Sunnah and the enduring legacy of the Awliyāʾ, Qaseem explores timeless themes of tazkiyah (purification of the soul), ihsān (spiritual excellence), and maḥabbah (love for Allah and His Beloved ﷺ) across its growing collection of original Qalams, Naats, Munājāts and Manqabats.
Each work is created with the intention of inspiring reflection, nurturing the soul and strengthening one's journey towards Allah.
Whether written in Urdu, English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, Arabic, French or other languages, every piece is offered with one prayer: that it may become a source of comfort, inspiration and benefit for every heart it reaches.

Rooted in a Living Tradition
The themes woven throughout these Qalams—love of Allah, love of Rasulullah ﷺ, repentance, gratitude, hope, trust and sincere devotion—have been nurtured for centuries by scholars and Awliyāʾ who dedicated their lives to drawing nearer to Allah and serving His creation.
South Africa's Islamic heritage has been shaped by generations of scholars, Awliyāʾ and communities who carried faith across oceans and continents, preserving it through worship, scholarship, service and devotion.
From the Cape Malay communities of the Western Cape to the Indian Ocean heritage of KwaZulu-Natal, and the many Muslim communities that continue to enrich our nation, each has added its own language, traditions and voice to this enduring legacy.
Qaseem is offered as a small contribution to that living tradition, honouring the past while contributing new devotional poetry for generations to come.
